The insurmountable will to bring into conception that which is regarded to be outside the norm is the driving force behind Anthony Walkers new album. Bitcoin is now a household name, thanks to the mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto. Astra Cloud Ashes aka Anthony Walker has done a profound job decrypting this fictional story.
Walker was also successful in proving that the nineties still have their influences on today’s music. Nobody has really determined whether Satoshi Nakamoto was the real creator of the cryptocurrency, however, Astral Cloud Ashes presents this story while taking a fictional stance. Walker has also expressed his intense passion and interest in the crypto universe with an elegant fashion.
I love the way Astral Cloud Ashes manages to present the story in an interesting and catchy music setting that just allures the listener. The maligning that has been infused with the eighties and nineties music is just stupendous. The queues that Walker has integrated into this artwork include Husker Du (later phase) and Dinosaur Jr. (“Reformed Heart”, “Ironed Shirts”). The album has also combined some modifications from Death Cab For Cutie coupled with some pop infused sensibilities that reignite the past decade vibe.
Walker puts it very clear: "As with 'Too Close to the Noise Floor' I'm still massively into alternative guitar tunings and alternative time/song structures. I enjoy breaking up musical sections and taking the listener in unexpected directions, I think that this album is definitely a progression from the first album in this way"
This refurbished musical machinery delivers something unlike what you’ve heard before as it carries the Nakamoto story with a vibrant and fresh vibe. Thumbs up to Astral Cloud Ashes for managing to create this album around a controversial saga. The stimulating sounds make it better and provide you with what your soul craves.
Astral Cloud Ashes is an independent alternative-rock band that was conceived back in 2016. The solo-project is based in the Chanel Islands on the Island of Jersey. Anthony Walker has enjoyed the co-operation of an astounding vocalist known as Jason Nile and two other drummers (Matt Booth and Max Saidi) and bassist (Sean Durham-Waite). This changed is November 2017 after the departure of vocalist Jason Neil, Astral Cloud Ashes is now solo.
The vocals and instruments that are performed and written by Walker, with the exception of guest performance on vocals performed by James Elliot Field in one of the new tracks in the new album “Dear Absentee Creator”. The drums have also been performed by Saidi on three of the new album's tracks. However, the other percussion and drums are recorded and written by Walker.
This second album, 'Dear Absentee Creator', which is a full length follow up for the 2016’s 'Too Close to the Noise Floor') is complete. The post-emo movement is not backing down with the leadership of Astral Cloud Ashes, the clear vocals coupled with sharp guitars provide astounding tracks such as the second one in the album, “Moonphase Bloom.” This indie anomaly will certainly soothe you in this EDM hybrid climate. The fascinating weave of the swinging bass grooves and persistent relish that allows the rest of the instruments to outfit into an amazing flavor is just amazing.
