Blizz Vito. I am born and raised in Brooklyn in the Clinton Hills section which is the home of the Notorious B.I.G. I am of Panamanian descent.
Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?
Brooklyn has the whole world listening right now to Brooklyn drill movement. I am part of the movement. Opp Down was underground hit with around 6 million streams. The Opp Down Part 2 was a chance to just intensify the energy and lyrics and work with 808 Melo to produce a classic drill anthem again.
What is unique about you and your music?
I am 21 years old, self-made, the CEO of Bossed Up Music, own my masters, and I am over 16 million plus streams all independently with no co-signs just hard work in one year. I am blessed to be able to move from melodic rap to drill rap to lyrical raps without hesitation. I studied the rappers from my hood Jay-Z, Notorious B.I.G. I also listened to 50 Cent and I understand that you have to be diverse in style, delivery and lyrics. You also have to bring the real life into your lyrics. I went from trapping to rapping so I bring that reality. Each one of my singles, you can see the diversity and growth reflected in the music, rhymes and artwork.
What shaped your music?
Jay-Z and Biggie Smalls becsuse they are from Brooklyn and Lil Bibby and Chief Keef were two artists I listened to in middle school.
When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
At 19, when I made my publishing company. I focused my mind and said if Gucci Mane and Jay-Z could switch from hustling and trapping then I could do the same. Once I made my first video and debuted on WorldstarHipHop and got over 1 million views and then over 1 million views on YouTube it was validation that I was here to make a mark. My goal Is to be an inspiration to future generations to be an entrepreneur.
What type of music do you listen to?
I listen to Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Nas, Lil Wayne and Drake.
What inspires you to write music?
My environment inspires me. I look at my community and try to reflect that energy.

We are an independent hip hop group who go by the name of Lost Minds Collective (acronym, L.M.C.). There are three of us who make up the group for the most part all from southern Cali: KiDDStrAnge, Roach1503 and AnGeL The Fallen. Callaway Jones is pacing back and forth across the studio. He’s listening to the most recent version of his new single, “8:24 in LA”, an homage to the late and great Kobe Bryant, a man whom he looked up to from his youth. He stops to take a quick selfie for his fans on the ‘gram, flashing his million dollar smile, and just as quickly, the smile disappears as he falls back into thoughts of the now deceased Kobe Bryant.
Kobe Bryant was a barometer of sorts for a young Callaway Jones to compare himself with, back in East Lansing, Michigan, where he was born. His parents divorced when he was seven years old, and his life was split between the inner city streets of Detroit and the suburban utopia of East Lansing. His unique situation is perhaps the underlying secret to his often whip smart lyrical tyranny in his songs.
What sticks out the most about his music is that it’s never from a perspective already heard elsewhere. The closest artists you could compare him to would be a Drake, effortlessly drifting between singing and rapping, or a Kendrick, or a Jay-Z, often rifting on the political climate of the nation and providing unfiltered perspective with a cultural lens entirely his own.
“8:24 in LA” is no different. The craftsmanship on display while describing who Kobe Bryant was to the world is second to only his description of what Kobe Bryant appeared to be to other players trying to guard him; that is to say a demi-god, with metaphorical wrapped bars like “All the tickets was sold, they were watching purple and gold, and Kobe Bryant was cold, and all of the players know, that guarding him was a joke, and stopping him was a lie, the vertical on this man was infinite ‘cuz he could fly”. Callaway Jones vividly paints images of what it’s like to play against Kobe and aggressively grabs the attention of the listener while simultaneously motivating them. This is a record you listen to and immediately want to go to the gym.
Callaway Jones’ birth name is Michael Simpson Jr, and upon inspection, it is revealed that he is not new to the entertainment industry, despite the “humble braggish” air around him, having had a very strong mid-tier and on going career as a filmmaker and an actor. If “8:24 in LA” is any indication, we are witnessing the solidification of a new entry for his resume; Hip Hop star.

To understand the music and talent this artist possesses you have to understand where he comes from. Living in the streets of Akron Ohio is a ruff journey. Having a mother with a crack addiction during his childhood and an absent father most of the time he was lead to a life of drugs and violence. At the age of 14 his trouble lead him into juvinile programs, oriana houses and eventually to juvinile prison. Music was always his escape and with artist like 2 Pac and tribe called quest and many more his passion grew, with his time to sit down and think about life and write. After his release he made some songs he never releasd nation wide but got alot of support, did alot of shows even got a deal from Sonics Wave International but eventually found himself back in juvinile prison again. From then on he's stayed out and has been making moves towards his music career more then ever and has released music and has a single out nation wide on all platforms. Also his Album Real Estate.
